Oct., 2017- This was our second cycling trip on the Danube. It again started in Passau, Germany but this time crossed Austria into Slovakia and went south through Hungary into Croatia and Serbia. We rode outbound on one side of the Danube and returned to Passau on the other side. Small ferries shuttle cyclists from one side of the river to the other so heavy traffic sections can be avoided. Nights were spent on a barge that followed the cycling path and docked at ports along the way. The route went through the spectacular Iron Gates gorge, idyllic wine-growing regions, and passed castles high above the river. We had rest days in Budapest, Belgrade, Bratislava. and Vienna. At the end of the ride, we spent a few days in Munich.
