The subtropical Terai jungle region in southern Nepal, on the border with India, is home to Chitwan National Park, a haven for wildlife and known for its protection of rare one-horned rhinos, Bengal tigers, and Gharial crocodiles. Soldiers patrol the park in search of poachers. A day spent in a dugout canoe on the Rapti River with a guide got us deeper into the jungle for a close up view of wildlife. On another day we wandered freely through a jungle village to visit with residents.
